The Importance of Performing Prayer on Time (Muhimmancin yin Sallah cikin lokaci)
🕌 English Explanation
1. Prayer is the Pillar of Islam
Prayer (prayer) is the second pillar of Islam and the most important act of worship after the declaration of faith (Shahadah). It connects a Muslim directly with Allah.
The Prophet (SAW) said:
“The first matter that the slave will be brought to account for on the Day of Judgment is the prayer. If it is sound, then the rest of his deeds will be sound. And if it is bad, then the rest of his deeds will be bad.”
— (Reported by al-Tabarani, al-Bayhaqi; Sahih Hadith)
2. Qur’an Command to Guard Prayer
Allah commands Muslims to observe prayer carefully and on time:
“Guard strictly (five obligatory) prayers, especially the middle prayer, and stand before Allah with devotion.”
— Surah Al-Baqarah 2:238
“Indeed, the prayer has been decreed upon the believers a decree of specified times.”
— Surah An-Nisa’ 4:103
This means that delaying prayer deliberately without reason is a sin, because Allah has fixed specific times for each prayer.
3. Prayer on Time is the Best Deed
Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (RA) asked the Prophet (SAW):
“Which deed is most beloved to Allah?”
He (SAW) said: “Prayer at its proper time.”
— (Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim)
4. Protection from Evil and Immorality
Allah says:
“Indeed, the prayer prevents immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allah is greater.”
— Surah Al-‘Ankabut 29:45
Prayer, when done on time and with sincerity, cleanses the soul and protects from sinful behavior.
5. Warning Against Delaying Prayer
The Prophet (SAW) warned about those who neglect prayer times:
“That is the prayer of the hypocrite: he sits watching the sun until it is between the horns of Shaytaan, and then he gets up and pecks out four (raka’ah) quickly, remembering Allah only a little.”
— (Sahih Muslim)
✅ Summary in English:
Praying on time is not just a duty, but a mark of true faith. It brings Allah’s pleasure, disciplines the soul, protects from evil, and will be the first thing judged on the Day of Resurrection.
